Haven Toronto and St. Michael’s Homes

Haven Toronto is Canada’s only daytime center where elder homeless, marginally housed and socially isolated men can feel safe, where they can form and cultivate friendships, and become part of a community. Their partner organization St. Michael’s Homes provides a continuous-care model of programs and services, resident and out-patient counselling and psychotherapy, and a drop-in serving clients experiencing mental health issues living in the community.

At Haven Toronto, support goes far beyond a meal or a place to rest. Through vital services like ID clinics, tax clinics, and other essential supports, Haven helps members take meaningful steps toward stability and independence.
These programs are made possible through donations from our community. Every contribution helps fund services that restore dignity, provide access, and create real opportunities for change.
Your support makes a difference. Donate today and help us continue this important work.

Of course you can also give to the general operating fund of the organization by clicking on the logo below. Please note that you will be linked to our very own donations page which still bears the former name of the shelter – The Good Neighbours Club. Your donation will still arrive at Haven Toronto and St. Michael’s Homes.

House of David

Has House of David been renewed for Season 3?
Not yet, but keep the faith as Wonder Project just announced a new companion series, The Old Stories: Moses, is coming to the streamer sometime this Spring from executive producers Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn. The faith-based franchise is still very much thriving. And the creators of House of David certainly have a plan for Season 3…

Who will star in House of David Season 3?

House of David Season 2 cast: Every character featured in the historical drama show and the actors behind them
Excerpt:
Louis Ferreira as Jesse: David’s dad is back, and Ferreira gives him this incredibly protective energy. He’s just a father terrified of what the royal court is turning his youngest son into, and more.

Stargate Universe

The co-creator of ‘Stargate Universe’ finally explains the show’s darker vision—and no regrets

This is a fantastic in-depth article and interview with Robert C. Cooper by Ed Gross. Here’s an excerpt:

“Unlike the sleek, mission-ready vessels seen in earlier Stargate series, Destiny is a relic: partially functional, unpredictable and, in many ways, operating on its own agenda. The crew doesn’t control where it goes or why—it drops out of faster-than-light travel only long enough for them to gather essential supplies through the Stargate before moving on again.

Survival, not exploration, becomes the driving force. That sense of instability carries directly into the show’s characters. Leading the military contingent is Colonel Everett Young (Louis Ferreira), a capable but emotionally strained officer trying to maintain order under impossible circumstances.”

The sci-fi series is currently trending on PVOD charts in the US, ranking among the most sought-after titles on the Apple TV store.

It is also performing strongly internationally on Paramount+, particularly in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, where it ranks among the top 10 shows.

THE 4th READING SERIES: MR. MUGS – ROCKETS AWAY!

The fourth monthly reading series continues in Mr. Mugs – Rockets Away! – Part 2  by Martha Kambeitz and Denise Burns.
Unlike previous readers, this volume was published as a hardcover book within the Level 3 series of the Mr. Mugs readers. It was originally released in 1968. The Mr. Mugs books have been out of print for many years but occasionally you can find them on eBayAmazon Marketplace or various other antique book dealers.

Louis credits the Mr. Mugs books series with helping him to learn English at a very young age.

You can listen to all the previous book readings under the Reading Series Tab, and you can read and listen to the first part of this book here

Here is this month’s chapter.

Listen to the sound clip here:

Chapter 69: It’s Story Time

It’s Story Time

There Once Was a Puffin
Oh, there once was a Puffin
Just the shape of a muffin,
And he lived on an island
In the bright blue sea!

He ate little fishes,
That were most delicious,
And he had them for supper
And he had them for tea.

But this poor little Puffin
He couldn’t play nothin’,
For he hadn’t anybody
To play with at all.

… to be continued next month!

So he sat on his island
And he cried for awhile, and
He felt very lonely
And he felt very small.

Then along came the fishes
And they said, “If you wishes,
You can have us for playmates
Instead of for tea!”

So they now play together
In all sorts of weather,
And the Puffin eats pancakes
Like you and like me.

Most people on set can get one breath away from snapping… and don’t even know it.

You don’t need a break.
You need a nervous system reset.
Inhale & Slow exhale.

That’s it.

No one will notice you doing it… but everyone will feel the difference in how you show up.

Because stressed people don’t make better decisions. Regulated ones do.

Save this for your next chaotic day on set.

Patrick Gilmore

Patrick is currently working on The Audacity. He posted these amazing before and after shots of how his character comes to life.

The film follows a widowed father, Arrow, who lives in his van and is trying to scrabble together his fractured life with the sole purpose of doing right by his young son… and he only has 24 hours to get it done.
