Fall is right around the corner and the world seems full of pumpkins, spices and a bountiful harvest. As usual on the 20th of the month we gather here in our safe little corner of the internet for another Ferreira Fest, where we check in with Louis Ferreira, his friends and chosen charities. We have a lot of news this time, along with photos, screen caps, our exclusive Reading Series and much more, so grab a wedge of pumpkin pie and some apple cider at our virtual bar and come on in!

Ability Online
Ability Online is a social network technology platform that gives children, youth and young adults with disabilities, parents, and professionals a safe, secure, and positive online experience every time they log in.
September is FASD Awareness Month.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a lifelong disability caused by alcohol exposure before birth. It can affect learning, communication, memory, emotions, and daily life.
Everyone with FASD is different and has their own strengths and support needs.
By learning more about FASD and reducing stigma, we can help create communities where individuals living with FASD feel understood, respected, and supported.
Everyone deserves the chance to thrive.
Rest isn’t something you have to earn.
Sleep and quiet time help your body recover, support your mood, organize memories and restore your energy.

Haven Toronto and St. Michael’s Homes
Haven Toronto is Canada’s only daytime center where elder homeless, marginally housed and socially isolated men can feel safe, where they can form and cultivate friendships, and become part of a community. Their partner organization St. Michael’s Homes provides a continuous-care model of programs and services, resident and out-patient counselling and psychotherapy, and a drop-in serving clients experiencing mental health issues living in the community.
On August 31 we remember those we’ve lost to overdose, hold space for those still struggling with addiction, and honour the frontline workers who show up every day.
Education saves lives. Overdose is preventable.
Know the signs. Know how to respond. Carry naloxone. Know who to call.
People experiencing homelessness or marginal housing face increased risks while often being overlooked and criminalized.
At Haven Toronto, our staff provide judgment-free support to people navigating addiction, meeting each person with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Remember. Educate. Reduce stigma. Save lives.

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada is the country’s leading charity dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, and families involved with the child welfare system.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
In the US, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline is available 24/7/365: call 988 to speak to someone who understands what you’re going through.
Every young person needs a community where they feel they belong, someone consistent in their corner, and a safe person to talk to when life feels overwhelming.
For young people from care, experiences of trauma, loss, and instability can make those connections and supports especially important. On World Suicide Prevention Day we are reminded that suicide prevention begins with listening, reaching out, and making sure young people know they do not have to face difficult moments alone.
Kids Help Phone offers free, confidential mental health support to young people across Canada, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Young people can call 1-800-668-6868, text CONNECT to 686868 or explore the support available at kidshelpphone.ca.
Anyone in Canada who is thinking about suicide or worried about someone else can also call or text 9-8-8 for support at any time.
Children and youth in foster care as well as those who have aged out of the system are at an elevated risk for death by suicide. Please support The Children’s Aid Foundation so that at-risk youth can always find the help they need.

House of David
Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios announced that production is underway in Greece on Season Three of House of David. The season brings this trilogy to an epic conclusion, completing David’s transformation from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior to his ultimate destiny as King.
Louis is on his way back to Greece to reprise his role as David’s father, Jesse.

Tuesday September 22, 1pm
A S.W.A.T. leader (Shemar Moore) is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he is tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Series premiere.
Louis plays the original S.W.A.T. team leader William ‘Buck’ Spivey.
SWAT 104: Radical – WE
Tuesday September 22, 4pm
After a domestic bomber dies in a Highland Park explosion, the SWAT team races to find the man’s partner before more devices detonate. Hondo reaches out to Buck, his former team leader (Louis Ferreira), when he worries he is isolating himself after his recent firing.
SWAT 318: Stigma – BOUNCE
Wednesday September 23, 9pm
The team searches for Buck (Louis Ferreira), who has been in a downward spiral after screwing up with the private security firm he’s working for. When he stops returning phone calls, both Hondo and Street head out to look for their mentor. The search evolves into a full-on mission when they discover that Buck might be planning to take his own life.

This month we have 218 caps from the House of David episode 207: A Royal Wedding.
David is preoccupied with the marriage rituals ahead of his royal wedding. Like Mychal, he is over the moon and can’t believe they are finally getting a happy ending. In the palace, Jesse (Louis Ferreira) arrives to celebrate David’s wedding. He is cautious yet honest with everything he tells Saul. Jesse admits that he feels like he has lost two sons to Saul. However, he understands their choices. Saul offers him gifts, and Jesse respectfully turns him down. Jesse leaves as soon as the wedding is done. He cautions David to keep his eyes on God and always remember who he is.

THE 4th READING SERIES: MR. MUGS – ROCKETS AWAY!
The fourth monthly reading series continues in Mr. Mugs – Rockets Away! – Part 2 by Martha Kambeitz and Denise Burns.
Unlike previous readers, this volume was published as a hardcover book within the Level 3 series of the Mr. Mugs readers. It was originally released in 1968. The Mr. Mugs books have been out of print for many years but occasionally you can find them on eBay, Amazon Marketplace or various other antique book dealers.
Louis credits the Mr. Mugs books series with helping him to learn English at a very young age.

THE FUTURE OF FERREIRA FEST
After 15 years of monthly gatherings Ferreira Fest is coming to an end. Our last newsletter will be the December 2026 issue.
The Friends of Louis Ferreira website will remain online until the current server subscription expires at which point the entire site will move to an archival location. The final migration will be announced well ahead of time, but you might want to go through the old newsletters and pages now and download what you wish to keep.
The archived site will remain online for the foreseeable future.
