Summer has all of us in the Northern hemisphere looking for some shade, and so we gather in our safe little corner of the internet as always on the 20th of the month, to check in with Louis Ferreira, his friends and chosen charities. We have so many cool goodies for you this time, as we approach our 200th party next month, but in the meantime – grab a refreshing cool beverage and some frozen treats at our virtual bar and come on in! Haven Toronto and St. Michael’s Homes
Haven Toronto is Canada’s only daytime center where elder homeless, marginally housed and socially isolated men can feel safe, where they can form and cultivate friendships, and become part of a community. Their partner organization St. Michael’s Homes provides a continuous-care model of programs and services, resident and out-patient counselling and psychotherapy, and a drop-in serving clients experiencing mental health issues living in the community.
A Heat Warning has been issued across Toronto starting Monday, July 13.
Extreme heat can be dangerous, especially for people experiencing homelessness, older adults, and others who are more vulnerable to heat-related illness.
Cooling centers and water access points have been made available across the city to help people stay safe during this period of high temperatures.
Here are a few ways you can help:
– Carry extra bottles of water to offer to someone in need.
– Familiarize yourself with the cooling centers and water access points in your neighborhood.
– support organizations that prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our vulnerable communities through donations or volunteering.
You can find the nearest cooling center, library, community center, splash pad, and other cool spaces in an online search.
Small acts of kindness can make a life-saving difference during extreme heat. Please check in on your neighbors, stay hydrated, and take care of one another.

House Of David Renewed For Season 3 By Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video has renewed Wonder Project’s House of David for a third season.
In season three, David’s journey “comes full circle from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior, to his ultimate destiny as King,” the synopsis states. “But before the throne, there is exile. David is a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies and live yet another dangerous lie. This chapter explores the true cost of destiny — the betrayals endured, the identities shed, and the sacrifices demanded of a hero before he can rise to the throne.”
Stargate Universe (SGU)
Here’s an excerpt from an article by Trent Moore on Static on the TV: Stargate Universe’s unused Season 3 premiere twist would’ve been absolutely brilliant
Stargate franchise producer Joseph Mallozzi took to Twitter to tell the story of at least one idea that had been considered for the Season 3 premiere — which actually built on the original idea for the Season 2 finale, which was tweaked once it was clear the network wouldn’t be picking the show up for another season.
Where the series ultimately ended with Eli looking out into the vast expanses of the universe, the original unused plan was a full-on cliffhanger that would’ve found Dr. Rush (Robert Carlyle) and Col. Young (Louis Ferreira) flipping a coin to determine who would stay awake to try and repair the final, damaged stasis pod.
Just as the coin landed… fade to black.

This month we have 59 screen caps from Season 2 episode 4 of House of David.
This episode titled Road to Atonement, centers on the royal entourage’s two-day journey to the Tabernacle in Nob for the Day of Atonement. Amidst deep religious rituals, David struggles with his legitimacy and military leadership, while Saul secretly sends assassins to eliminate the anointed king.
In a flashback, David’s family is turned away from the ceremony because his mother is a Gentile, leaving him feeling like an outcast. Louis resumes his role as David’s father Jesse in the black and white flashback scenes.

THE 4th READING SERIES: MR. MUGS – ROCKETS AWAY!
The fourth monthly reading series continues in Mr. Mugs – Rockets Away! – Part 2 by Martha Kambeitz and Denise Burns.
Unlike previous readers, this volume was published as a hardcover book within the Level 3 series of the Mr. Mugs readers. It was originally released in 1968. The Mr. Mugs books have been out of print for many years but occasionally you can find them on eBay, Amazon Marketplace or various other antique book dealers.
Louis credits the Mr. Mugs books series with helping him to learn English at a very young age.

with his balloons. Monkey went too.
“Good morning, Smiley,” called a girl
in a big white house.
“Good morning,” answered the clown.
“Do you want a balloon? Here’s a pretty
white and pink one.”
“No thank you, Smiley. Not today.”
Up and down the streets went the clown.
Up and down the streets went Monkey.
“BALLOONS,BALLOONS!” called Smiley.
But no one wanted a balloon.
“What’s wrong?” thought Smiley.
‘I’m getting tired of this! Let’s go out
into the country, Monkey.
It’s beautiful out there.
The change will be good.”
Out he went. So did Monkey.

Co-writer Derek Thomson and I were nominated for the Leo awards – the British Columbia film industry annual event. We won Best Screenplay for a Drama Series for the season 2 episode 8 of Murder in a Small Town called ‘Masterpiece.'”
