Haven Toronto and St. Michael’s Homes
There are thousands of men over the age 50 in shelters in Toronto annually. Hundreds more sleep outdoors and in precarious accommodations. The number of seniors who are homeless has doubled in four years.
Haven Toronto is their sanctuary, a place where they can feel at home, where they are always welcome and treated with dignity and respect. Open every day from 8am to 4pm, Haven Toronto provides the essential services they need for their day-to-day lives.
Haven Toronto provides onsite access to crisis and housing counsellors, on-site nurses, dental hygienists and barbers.
Haven Toronto also provides healthy meals twice daily at 8am and noon, clothing, showers, laundry, recreational amenities and more.
Last month they hosted a BBQ in Haven Toronto’s backyard!
A day of dignity, friendship & community — everything we stand for.
Thanks to everyone who joined and made it special!
Click on the thumbnail of this month’s events calendar for Haven Toronto to see a full-size version! Activities range from health support classes to music sessions, legal advice, gaming sessions and of course holiday celebrations.
At the Kits for a Cause portal you can purchase much needed items to be given directly to an elder homeless man in need. And of course you can also give to the general operating fund of the organization by clicking on the logo below. Please note that you will be linked to our very own donations page which still bears the former name of the shelter – The Good Neighbours Club. Your donation will still arrive at Haven Toronto and St. Michael’s Homes.

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada
The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada is the country’s leading charity dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, and families involved with the child welfare system.
The new Five Year Strategic Plan has just been unveiled:
The Goal: To ignite transformational, generational change for young people involved with the child welfare system, improving their long-term outcomes, stability and success.
Children and youth involved with the child welfare system face complex challenges that put their potential — and their lives — at risk.
Yet despite decades of focused efforts to improve their outcomes, they continue to be at significantly greater risk of poverty, homelessness and mental health concerns.
To achieve our vision, we have identified five strategic priorities to guide our work, energy and resources over the next five years.
As an organization, we will make new investments in our priority areas, which are outcomes focused, measurable, and designed for long-term impact for children and youth from care.
If you grew up in a comfortable, stable home please give support to the kids who don’t have those things in their lives. Every penny helps. Click on the logo to get started.

SHOWS NEWS
House of David
Sportskeeda has an extensive page with information on air dates, plotlines and cast members, although it erroneously lists Louis as a new cast member. Louis has been playing David’s father Jesse since the beginning of the series. Aside from that it’s worth a read! The error shows up in just about every single Season 2 primer on the series, as news outlets all tend to use the same sources.
Bleeding Cool News has an exclusive clip of Season 2’s episode 4 Road to Atonement. Check it out.

THE 4th READING SERIES: MR. MUGS – ROCKETS AWAY!
The fourth monthly reading series continues in Mr. Mugs – Rockets Away! – Part 2 by Martha Kambeitz and Denise Burns.
Unlike previous readers, this volume was published as a hardcover book within the Level 3 series of the Mr. Mugs readers. It was originally released in 1968. The Mr. Mugs books have been out of print for many years but occasionally you can find them on eBay, Amazon Marketplace or various other antique book dealers.
Louis credits the Mr. Mugs books series with helping him to learn English at a very young age.
You can listen to all the previous book readings under the Reading Series Tab, and you can read and listen to the first half of this book here.
Here is this month’s chapter.

Chapter 63: Just The Thing! (continued)

… to be continued next month!
When no one was looking, some animals
did some changing. They were having
a good time.
“This is just the thing,” they said.
“We won’t go back to the zoo story book.”

PHOTOS
Louis and Jackie wanted to share a few photos from their friend Kelly Ripa’s birthday party. Kelly and her husband Mark Consuelos both worked with Louis on the series 1-800-Missing. They’ve remained close friends since then. And they also shared a beautiful new photo of themselves. Thanks, Louis and Jackie!

Change Your Socks and Regulate Your Nervous System
“It sounds simple, but hear me out… changing your socks can be a nervous system reset and one of my personal favorite
Your feet have thousands of nerve endings and play a huge role in regulating temperature. When you slip into a clean, dry, or cozy pair, you’re not just refreshing your feet, you’re sending your body a subtle ‘you’re safe’ signal.
A soft new texture gives your brain fresh sensory input, grounding you in the present moment. That tiny act of care helps your system downshift from fight/flight into rest/digest. It’s small, but it’s powerful. A tactile reminder that comfort, safety, and calm can start from the ground up.”

Amanda Alexander
Amanda writes:
“Hello. I’m on When Calls the Heart for another month and a bit. It’s going well. 13th season, so they know what they’re doing. LOL!
[My dog] Calvin is doing okay. He’s slowing down but still my favorite boy.

Congratulations, Bradley – it is a well-deserved honor!
