Once again the 20th of the month is rolling around and it’s time for another Ferreira Fest, where we check in with Louis Ferreira, his friends and charities and celebrate our friendships and our community. But this isn’t just any Ferreira Fest – this is our 100th issue!
What started out as a simple desire to share information has grown into a world-wide network of friends from over 100 countries and over 700 distinct regions and cities.
Thanks for visiting every month – here’s to the next 100 issues!
CHARITIES NEWS
The first 100 issues of Ferreira Fest have been completely free and always available online, and we intend to keep it that way. Instead of asking you to contribute to our site we have four official charities. Louis has chosen all of them as they are causes he supports as well. If you enjoy the free monthly Ferreira Fest newsletters please consider contributing to one of our charities. Everyone helping out at Ferreira Fest – including Louis – is a volunteer. Please pay it forward and donate to one of the following charities, or a cause that is important to you. Thank you!
Ability Online
Read up on Ability Online‘s “Capable to Unstoppable” Campaign!
There are several new posts on the Ability Online blog.
Ability Gives is currently sponsoring Ella.
“Ella is 8 years old. She turns 9 this May. Ella has had a very complicated medical journey the last 4 years and her case is very rare and complex. She has a very rare degenerative Motor Neuropathy/ Neuromuscular disease. She now needs a wheelchair or walker to get around and we installed a stairlift in our house, so she can get upstairs.
Her upper extremities and core muscles are also starting to show more weakness as time goes on. As Ella becomes weaker her needs increase. She relies on us for most of her daily needs such as getting dressed, the bathroom, getting off the floor and emotional support. We have tried to make our house comfortable and accessible for Ella so she can remain independent.
She loves cooking and baking, horseback riding, piano, arts and crafts, swimming and sit-skiing.
We would like an adaptive bike for our daughter so we can go for bike rides as a family and keep Ella as active as possible.
Ella is a very determined little girl but this has certainly affected her emotionally in many ways as she remembers being able to run around with her friends a short time ago. She doesn’t understand why this is happening to her. We continue as a family to encourage her and love and support her in every way! We are learning to adapt to our new normal as a family and give her the best life we can. Thank you for your support!”
Please consider donating what you can to Ella, or give to Ability Online and help kids of different abilities enjoy a safe and bully-free online connection! Click on the link below – it’s easy and secure.

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada
Through no fault of their own, hundreds of thousands of kids have experienced or live at risk of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. The future for kids involved with child welfare is bleak: 67,000 live in foster care without a permanent family, they have a less than 50 per cent chance of graduating high school, and a high risk of living in poverty, becoming homeless, and experiencing mental health issues and addiction. Four in five have special needs.
The average young person in care moves to five different foster homes during their time in the system. Most live without the unconditional love and support of a family and close group of friends that many of us take for granted growing up. Every day brings the possibility of a new trauma. For kids in care, normal shouldn’t mean living on the streets is safer than living at home. Normal shouldn’t mean watching a parent beat a sibling or having to quit school to take care of younger siblings. No kid should think of these situations as normal. Together, we need to take a stand.
At The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada you have a chance to get to know those who received vital support from your donations. You can read about these extraordinary young people here.

SCREENCAPS
This month we finally have some MOTIVE screencaps again! We have 215 caps from Season 4 Episode 3 Index Case.
Here is a summary (beware of spoilers if you haven’t watched the episode yet):
The victim: Chris Mancuso, an environmental consultant. The killer: Logan Tenwick, a research scientist for Turner, a biomedical firm for which Chris had been hired to do an environmental assessment.
Logan has been working on what he considers the definitive and groundbreaking work on eradicating breast cancer. It is through Chris’ consulting work for Turner that he met who would become his girlfriend, Kierra Graff, Logan’s assistant. Chris’ dead body is found first thing in the morning inside a sensory deprivation tank at a day spa.
The case takes a deadly turn when Betty not only discovers that Chris died from asphyxiation from his tank being flooded with chloramine, but that he still has an active but unknown pathogen in his system, meaning the morgue is being locked down. The virus being unknown in nature adds an extra level of concern, as Betty knows the CDC can only identify it if a victim comes forward who knows when they have been infected.

Dennis Heaton
Dennis’ new series The Order has been picked up by Netflix!
From an article on HollywoodReporter.com:
Netflix is pushing deeper into monster drama. The streaming giant has handed out a 10-episode, straight-to-series order for The Order. The project revolves around college freshman Jack Morton, who joins a fabled secret society, The Order, where he is thrust into a world of magic, monsters and intrigue. As Jack goes deeper, he uncovers dark family secrets and an underground battle between werewolves and the magical dark arts. The Order is described as a magical and terrifying journey to uncover everyone’s true selves … and the monsters that hide within.
The cast includes Jake Manley (Heroes: Reborn) as Morton, with Sarah Grey (Legends of Tomorrow) set as the female lead and joined by Matt Frewer (Altered Carbon), Sam Trammell (True Blood) and Max Martini (Training Day, Revenge).
The drama was created by Dennis Heaton (Ghost Wars, Motive, Fido) and Shelley Eriksen (Flashpoint, Continuum, Somewhere Between), who will both co-write the series for producers Nomadic Pictures. The Canadian-set production company’s Chad Oakes and Michael Frislev will executive produce alongside Heaton, David Von Ancken (Ghost Wars) and Eriksen.

The discovery of a magnificent diamond rough may put the brothers back on top – or it may tear them apart forever. Cam joins forces with his estranged son Malcolm Rose in order to navigate the dangerous underworld of blood diamonds.
