DRAGON CON 2014
Louis Ferreira had a great time at Dragon*Con in Atlanta and enjoyed meeting you – his friends – August 29 through August 31!
If you were able to attend we hope you had an opportunity to meet Louis at his table in the Walk Of Fame where he spent most of his time. Louis was a great host, taking his time with everyone who visited, giving hugs to everyone and generously posing for countless pictures with his friends. If you have any to share, please send them to and we will post them with full credit to you.
In 2011 Louis had met tiny little Ronon Everett, who was named after his character on Stargate Universe, Everett Young. This year Ronon Everett was back with his brother and parents – an encounter Louis had been looking forward to for 3 years. Thanks to the family for their permission to post these pictures!
Louis attended the official Stargate Universe panel on Friday afternoon, arriving in a costume, a shlocky 70s sci-fi outfit from the original Sonny and Cher Show he had rented from a costume shop, much to the delight and amusement of the crowd.
The camaraderie between Louis and his fellow castmates from the show, David Blue (Eli Wallace) and Ona Grauer (Emily Young), led to countless laughs.
But everybody was completely taken by surprise when Louis followed up on Patrick Gilmore’s Ice Bucket Challenge – in the middle of the panel – by dumping 3 full glasses of ice cube-laced water straight onto his head.
The crowd went wild!
Louis then challenged the entire audience to get involved in causes that are important to them. We hope many in attendance accepted his challenge!
Since Atlanta hotels don’t so much air-condition as they refrigerate, Louis got cold in a hurry!
Luckily, Scott Kunkel, who was in the audience, offered a rescue blanket to Louis which he gratefully accepted.
Louis attended three different fan photo ops where visitors were able to have their picture taken with him by a professional photographer. Please share yours if you have one! Louis had requested an assortment of fun hats and props for the photo shoots, and many fans chose to participate in the fun and dress up.
The photo op was a very special event for the staff of Ferreira Fest, since many of us were able to meet in person for the first time.
It was such a treat to spend time with the people who so freely give of their precious spare time to bring you this newsletter every month.
We hope to add Anne, Anisio and Ildi to our photo next time!
Thanks to everyone who sent in their photos. If you have any more to share, please send them to .
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated to our charities, The Children’s Aid Foundation and The Good Neighbours’ Club. At the end of the con we sent a check to each of our charities. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Rest assured that the money will be used where it is needed most.
MOTIVE
Season 3 started filming this week! Read the official press release here. There’s a brief look on what’s up ahead and the situation at the beginning of the season, but no real spoilers.
HollywoodReporter also has a brief article and a cast photo.
And here is the official Newswire announcement, as well as a note on CraveOnline.
TV-Eh? has posted an interview with Dennis Heaton, the Season 1 writer-turned-showrunner.
Again, no spoilers that will wreck your enjoyment of the show, but a good insight into what it means to make such a jump.
Please note: the interview is mostly in audio format.
Will Billie finally make her TV Series debut this season?
Keep your paws crossed!
Lauren Holly posted this photo of the actors’ chairs.
Can you believe that after 2 seasons they STILL can’t get Louis’ name right?!
Want to see MOTIVE Season 3 in the US and elsewhere? Then make your wishes known to your local provider who airs the show. In the US that’s ABC Network. You can tweet them a message or go straight to their feedback page:
- Go to http://abc.go.com/feedback
- In the drop-down menu, select “ABC Programming Feedback”. A new form will pop up.
- Fill in the required information and then give them a few good reasons why they should renew MOTIVE.
- You will receive a generic response that has nothing to do with what you wrote. Don’t let that deter you.
- Send more feedback the next day.
As of September 20th ABC has not yet committed to airing Season 3. Please help and cast your vote. Your voice might just be the one that sways the Powers That Be! Thank you!
There’s an awesome recap of MOTIVE’s Season 2 finale which contains a beautiful description of the last scene with Oscar and Angie. Oh yes, and some nice pictures, too!
The Season 2 finale ratings are puzzled out here, but in a nutshell this is it:
“Motive” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 3.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s season finale of “Motive” was up for the 2nd week in a row in Adults 18-49 (+13% – 0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3) to equal a 10-week high – since 6/18/14. Among Adults 18-49 from 10:00-11:00 p.m., “Motive” nearly tied the second hour of CBS’ “Extant” (pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point and tied in audience share – 0.9/3 vs. 1.0/3) and beat NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”-led “Taxi Brooklyn” by 29% (0.9/3 vs. 0.7/2).
“Motive” topped its last season’s finale (0.8/3 on 8/29/13) by 13% in Adults 18-49.
Here is an interview with Louis’ MOTIVE colleague Lauren Holly. It does not mention Louis but has some nice tidbits about Lauren’s character and the show. Lauren has also recently launched her own clothing line “Lauren’s Closet” with retailer Le Château.
And here’s a little gem that Lauren posted from a scene on location of the first Season 3 MOTIVE episode. Thanks, Lauren!
THROUGH THE PANE
Through The Pane was accepted into the Hollywood Film Festival!
The festival is happening October 16-19 at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood.
A fabulous review of Through The Pane has just been posted at Night Film Reviews, regarding the screening at the 38th Annual Montreal World Film Festival. Without giving anything away it accurately describes the genius of this movie and only whets your appetite to see the whole thing. Hopefully it will be available to us all in the near future. Meanwhile, read this critic’s response.
“Surely the most inventive and creative short of the program, Pauline Egan’s sweet black-and-white short is a true enjoyment of subtle filmmaking. Undoubtedly inspired by the 2011 breakout hit The Artist, Pauline Egan (who shares a striking resemblance to The Artist’s female star Bérénice Bejo) crafts a gorgeously shot and executed short full of surprises, laughs, tears and concentrated cinematic joy.
When Annabelle (Egan) finds herself, like any other day, by her piano, focused on the bittersweet melodies of her past as she looks past a picture of her and an ex-lover, she notices Lewis (Louis Ferreira), a painter, staring at her through the pane in the building across from her. As they exchange innocent smiles to one another, Lewis begins a silent, romantic dialogue of clever and heartwarming words to Annabelle, who is quick to respond. As the two share trivial information about each other, the two share in window dates through breakfast and dinner, that leads to harsh truths about their pasts and the demons each one of them face beyond the harmless pane of glass.
Egan’s film is a true gem. While the two protagonists share a romance without words and solely with the expressions on their faces, the two actors truly make you fall in love with each of their characters, as well as the idea that true love, as whimsical as it could be, could happen in the most mundane places. The two, in a very short time, show the hardships people face in relationships through differences of personalities, the limitations of the body and the true nature of human beings and love itself. Through the Pane was sure to be my favorite short of the festival. A short that asks important questions about the limitations and will of happiness, the reflective commentary on our ability to strive for happiness despite our own, personal disabilities and most importantly, the desire to go out there and be vulnerable, all in the name of love.”

Through The Pane has already racked up an impressive amount of Festival participation! Shucks, indeed…
Composer Sam Hulick announced that the soundtrack for Through The Pane is now also available on iTunes and Loudr.fm. Sam also has another brand-new album in the works that will be released next week: Destination: Mars. Check it out for some hauntingly beautiful, epic music!
As before, official show photographer Peter Holst has graciously provided some original photography from the filming of Through The Pane. For more of Peter’s work please visit his website at www.peterholstphotography.com

SCREEN CAPS
Louis was able to meet up with one of his favorite actors, C. Thomas Howell, at Dragon Con (see photo above). Mr. Howell starred in one of Louis’ favorite movies, The Outsiders. Many years after he first watched him in that film Louis got to work with Mr. Howell in an episode of the TV series Criminal Minds called Omnivore (Season 4, Episode 18). Louis plays the role of Roy Coulson, an author who chronicled the reign of terror of a serial killer, and who unexpectedly falls into the sociopath’s clutches.
Below are 393 screencaps of Louis in the episode. Here is a direct link to the album: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1F5PjHZA4KS8zNoO5KWldx1TWp4RDG1HC?usp=drive_link

This little infomercial came out of nowhere! Thanks, Agi, for digging that one up!
From Instant Button
“Actor Louis Ferreira from “Breaking Bad,” “Stargate,” and ABC “Motive” was walking around with a popped-off button secured by a belt. He came to the right place at the right time because Instant Button had an instant solution for him!”
THE READING SERIES: ARE YOU AS HAPPY AS YOUR DOG?
Every month Louis reads a chapter from one of his favorite books, Are You as Happy as Your Dog? by Alan Cohen. Mr. Cohen has kindly granted his permission for us to post Louis’ book reading clips here. Please join me in thanking him and be sure to visit his website at alancohen.com.

Here is this month’s chapter. It was recorded on site in LA, thus the sound quality is much better than usual.
Listen to the sound clip here:
Chapter 19: Kiss Profusely
Munchie displays his affection eagerly, immediately, and without reserve
If he likes you he will jump on you and kiss you until you surrender or get up.
My dog loves me and he lets me know. I like that.
Hmmmm…

Rob Munic
Sad news… The show Gang Related which Rob wrote two episodes for was cancelled. The reality of the TV business is that most series never even make it past their pilot episode, and the majority of them that do get cancelled after their first season or even sooner. In our interview with Rob he talks about how much work of the TV writer never even makes it onto the screen. Read the interview with Rob Munic here.
Gang Related may have simply been too far ahead of its time, with its strong Hispanic cast and gritty realism.
