Project Limelight

The mission of Project Limelight is to create an environment that will allow youth to develop a strong sense of self and to unleash their imagination. The program provides a nurturing community that supports their development through participation in the performing arts. Project Limelight gives young people a sense of confidence, self-assurance and creative freedom that will be carried forward outside of the initiative and into their school and home life.

Mentorship is a big part of Project Limelight’s culture and is pivotal in creating a sustainable program that reaches deep into the community and provides participants with an appreciation of what goes into the making of a performance. Project Limelight encourages past participants to come back and mentor the next round of Project Limelight kids. They also offer participants a select number of internships and scholarships to continue their studies in whatever field they choose.

Check out Project Limelight's video collection page, which includes the adorable short film The Review, which features none other than our own main man Louis Ferreira! Watch it now here!

The Children's Aid Foundation of Canada

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada is dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth in the child welfare system. You can read about their many programs in their newsletter The Buzz.

October 10 was World Mental Health Day, a day to raise awareness about mental health issues as well as available mental health care supports. This year's focus is on suicide prevention.

Exposure to childhood trauma is almost universal in the child welfare population, which is one of the reasons why children and youth in care are almost four times as likely to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder compared to children in the general population.

Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada is working with various partners and supporters to help youth transitioning out of care address their past trauma and move forward towards successful futures with our Connections program. This wraparound healthcare hub provides quicker access to mental health support for youth-in-transition in the GTA.

Read more about the program and how to apply here.

LIMETOWN

Connekt Creative Inc  (Louis' agency) writes:

Is it possible for a whole town of people to just disappear? Connekt Client Louis Ferreira plays Max Finlayson, a cocky but charming scientific genius. Check out the trailer for Limetown now! The series premiered October 16 on FacebookWatch.

You can watch the first two episodes on FaceBook Watch here.
(Note: Louis does not appear in them yet.)

THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE

Season 4 of The Man In The High Castle starts November 15 on Amazon Prime. Louis plays Brad Bellows, a member of the resistance. Watch the official Season 4 trailer here or click on the show logo below for the link.

SCREENCAPS

This month we have 579 screen caps from the series This Life Season 2 Episode 7 Joyride. Louis plays wayward dad David K. Crowley who has a change of heart and returns to his estranged ex-wife Natalie and their children.

Logline: In this episode Natalie has not divulged to her children that she and their father have reconciled of sorts, let alone that they had a sexual encounter. Natalie may get a jolt in letting David back into her and the children's lives.

THE NEW READING SERIES: MR. MUGS - TAKE A PEEK!

The third monthly reading series continues in Mr. Mugs - Take A Peek! by Martha Kambeitz, Denise Burns and Josephine Proctor. It is almost identical to the volume Mr. Mugs - Peek In Please! except for 11 pages which served as non-religious substitutes for the bible stories.

Louis credits the Mr. Mugs books series with helping him to learn English at a very young age. The Mr. Mugs books have been out of print for many years but occasionally you can find them on eBay, Amazon Marketplace or various other antique book dealers.

You can listen to the book readings on the Reading Series Page.
Here is this month's chapter.

Also on September 29 I was on a podcast called PropsCast.
The details are below. This is an awesome film/life related podcast."

PropsCast by Jordie Dobbie and Clayton Flagg

We started The PropsCast as a creative outlet for ourselves outside of work, but also as an incentive to hang out on a regular basis! The fact that people enjoy listening is a bonus.

You can listen to The PropsCast for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher (Android users).

Our content is a mixture of appreciating movies and TV while offering a cheeky and realistic look at our jobs in Vancouver's film industry. But 40% of the time we end up on a completely unrelated tangent.

KITS provides healing from the trauma of foster care through the art of storytelling and film making. Empowering foster kids--One film at a time. KITS does everything to ensure these dreams.

For years now I’ve wanted to become a blacksmith - or a smith of any sort - but blacksmith sounded way cooler. So my numero uno Ingrid Rogers hooked me up with the dopest gift. A class at Adam's Forge  - now I’m hooked and it’s only a matter of time until I’m on Forged In Fire making a 17th century battle ace - or able to make a letter opener. Win-Win for this guy!!!
